Dharti Ka Doctor (DKD): A Soil Testing Kit
The Atharva Veda states that "माता भूमिः पुत्रोऽहं पृथिव्याः", which
means
The Earth is
my mother, I am her son. All living beings in the world, including humans, are
entirely dependent on the Earth. Throughout history farmers have toiled on the
land to meet the food requirements of humanity. The land, regarded as the provider
of food and medicine, has now become polluted and barren due to our own mistakes.
In the present time, farmers have become reliant on seeds and
fertilizers,
lacking knowledge about soil nutrient requirements and the appropriate quantities
of these elements needed for fertilization. This has further deteriorated and impoverished
the soil. Farmers are using excessive amounts of fertilizers and chemicals in
pursuit of higher yields, resulting in increased production costs and decreased
productivity. Tragically, this has left farmers feeling helpless, leading some to even
resort to
suicide. Nowadays, farming is often associated with a sense of despair.
The “Dharti Ka Doctor Soil Testing Kit” is an effective solution for farmers
to easily and affordably test the health of their soil. The Patanjali Organic Research
Institute (PORI), in collaboration with Bharuwa Agri Science, has developed a portable soil testing kit that enables farmers to analyze the composition and nutrient levels
of their soil directly on their farms. By providing detailed insights into the soil’s characteristics, the kit helps farmers optimize their farming practices, reduce production
costs, and increase crop yields. This aligns with the broader goals of initiatives like
“Prosperous Farmer, Happy Country” and “Farmers Double Income” to improve the
livelihoods of India’s farming community. The accessibility and effectiveness of the
“Dharti Ka Doctor (DKD) Soil Testing Kit” make it a valuable tool for empowering
farmers and advancing sustainable agriculture across the country.
